Maureen Valley and her husband Peter Henry spent the summer of 2013 working with Rotary International on an oral health project in Africa. Dr. Valley is currently doing oral hygiene education and collecting data in some of the most remote parts of Kenya, mainly working with the Maasai tribe. Dr. Valley will be joined by Mr. Samson Saigilu, a Maasai Warrior and public health official in Kenya. Come hear their stories, see their photos, and learn from the data they collected and analyzed for their study.
In 1994 Dr. Valley began practicing orthodontics in the Boston area, and taught on the faculty at Harvard Dental School for four years. In 1998 she moved to California, and began providing orthodontic care at Valley Orthodontics in San Rafael. Dr. Valley is Associate Professor and Director of the Postgraduate Orthodontic Clinic at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco.
Dr. Valley is a graduate of Harvard University where she received her Doctorate in Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) and her Masters of Public Health. Her doctorate research was on cleft lip and palate and related craniofacial anomalies. Dr. Valley is also a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. |
